Pillars of Waste.
This years NRB is based at Gaylord Opryland in Nashville.
It’s the worlds largest non casino hotel with 2881 rooms and 220 suites.. It has 3 large atriums with gardens and 15 resturants, a shopping district and convention spaces everywhere.
It’s massive… Staggering.. And ultimately overwhelming.
The place all sits under one roof, so to speak, and is climate controlled. It’s all good for ice cream all year round (it’s currently 4 degrees out and I’m eating ice cream).
But Its got me thinking about building things. There are great pillars holding the place together and the roof up. And admist the plush and affluent surroundings i’m wondering how much this is all worth.
This very building seems to slap the acts 2 church in the face. The pillars of this place hold up affluence and excess.
Being involved at NRB I’ve been looking at christian broadcasting and all to often it also appears to be built with similar pillars.
The good news us that there are alot of examples of ministries that have great foundations, and as they grow their pillars reflect the right values.
The question I have is… What do you subscribe to.. As the roof is raised on the ministry how do the pillars look.
Actually I have a video here of the garden atrium.. It’s nice an warm inside while being below zero outside.. There are a number of atriums that are just stunning..
One of the many indoor atriums at Gaylord Opryland.. To say it’s amazing is an understatement.. Had a great cuppa coffee with @mikebrownnz and steve from dove.. Legendary.. Will head back and grab some Video footage and post online soon.
Went to the Gibson showcase shop today.. Beautiful.. So very very beautiful.. Would have liked to buy an acoustic..
You know something bigs coming..
For the last two weeks it’s been a little bit of hard slogg..
Ignoring work for a moment, as that will always be there and present.. But just personally..
The costs of winding up the business has been hefty. Very hefty. And it seems new costs appear weekly..
There was a surprise visitor.. Which has meant a revisit of all our locks and security..
Janelle has been sick on valentines day.. Which sucked a bit, cause I really wanted to hang out.
That was also the day someone decided to park their car on top of mine, then do a runner..
Then Kaleb got an infection and then was misdiagnosed to which he reacted badly to the meds…
Then.. The fridge blew up..
And you know what.. All I can think about is the fact that countless thousands lost their lives and livelyhoods in earthquakes.. Recently..
Many many people died in a train accident in Belgium this morning.
And Tongans are now piecing back together their storm shattered homes.
I sometimes wonder if my issues are some form of test, or spiritual attack.
Perhaps preparing for something big on the horizon.. But you know what.. I don’t know..
I do know that we live in a fallen world..
And I do know that the way I respond in the here and now defines me more as a person than what may happen in the future..
I will say this.. We have great friends and great family who have stood beside us and continue to do so.. Even loaning fridges at 9:30 at night.. And my milk is cold again..
God is good.. Jehovah jireh.. Selah..
P.s. Seriously do we even consider how lucky we are to have cold milk..
Kaleb decided to read a cycling magazine at the doctors..
And one last pic for the day.. This made me lolz.. Perhaps there’s some truth in in.. Haha anyway my bananas have arrived..
Been meaning to share this photo for a while.. Kaleb having his bottle as we lay in on. Saturday morning.. I love it when Kaleb crashes onto the bed to wake me up..
Selah
I’m slowly learning the significance of the word selah. I mean I’ve been aware of it and the importance in the Psalms, but never really gave it much thought to it’s practical applications.
During another awesome Sunday at shore, I discovered a translation of the bible I’ve been known to use (TNIV) ommitted the word selah from the psalms.
Odd I thought, jokingly making comments about the modern generations not having the time to reflect.
But I started to realize selah needs to be used alot more. Both I’m reading the scriptures and in everyday life.
So each day now I’ve found myself taking a selah moment on the deck of my house. Reflecting on the day, the good and bad, and reflecting on how I feel and why. And occasionally changing my world view.
So…. Selah… Stop.. Rest.. Relax and soak..
P.s. Selah is best enjoyed with a healthy helping of scripture.. :)
This video has been around for a while, but its still an amazing story from Brian “Head” Welch… This is also a post for a friend who needs to hear this story.
